May 2017 CSGB Postal Auction – Now Closed6th Mar 2017 by Sam Whiting
Well here I am, writing my jottings for the Convention Auction. I know it is a cliché, but where have the last 12 months gone? The days and weeks seem to have flown by!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the vendors who supply the material for the auction, and of course also the people who bid, without you the auction could not carry on.
As has been the case for a few years, there will be no live auction at the Convention. However, the lots will be available to view, on Saturday between 1:30 and 3:30 (or 13:30 and 15:30 if you prefer!), and on Sunday between 12 and 1. I will have bidding sheets with me, so will be able to accept bids at the Convention, but note that the auction will close on Saturday 6th May 2017. Please come and view the auction lots and introduce yourself, it would be good to put faces to names of bidders and vendors!
The highlights this time include a Charlesworth & Austin Cricketer, a Quinton Actress FROGA, 10 lots of trade sets of transport subjects in very nice condition, 8 Ogden’s Actresses Collotype offered individually, some Battle Scenes by both Duke and Gail & Ax, Taddy County Cricketers and Prominent Footballers, some early Barratt issues, Kinnear Jockeys, Smith Champions of Sport and much, much more.
If a member wishes to see a scan of a lot they are considering bidding on then I am only too happy to oblige. However due to the cost of printing and postage this will only be possible by email. Please email your requests to me and I will try to respond as soon as possible.
If a member requires any more information about lots, then please contact me by phone, email or post and I will do my best to assist.
Firstly, can I say that I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It is odd writing this in the past tense, but because of publishing deadlines I am doing this the week before Christmas! I would like to thank all the members who ha
Table booking forms have been pouring in at the time of writing this post-Christmas update. Forty-four tables have already been booked with wall tables doing particularly well, so don’t leave it too late to complete your table booking form. Additi
In this Auction, 'the collection' again features items at Lots 6 - 71, including 4 with high catalogue values. One set, scarce as set, is catalogued at £1900, but is not that popular. What reserve can I give, when the cards are in VG condition.
