2020 Convention – Salisbury23rd December 2019 by Michele Auborn
All card and ephemera collectors make a note in your diary now because our next card convention will take place on
SATURDAY 25th and SUNDAY 26th APRIL 2020 at FIVE RIVERS LEISURE CENTRE, HULSE ROAD, SALISBURY, WILTSHIRE SP1 3NR
And if you are a Cartophilic Society Member don’t forget that you are allowed free admission throughout both days.
Lots of your favourite dealers are now signed up and many are reporting that they have been reserving special items for this grand event. To any dealers who have not yet returned your forms please do this swiftly as the pitches are being snapped up fast. Wall tables have been proving especially popular and there are always less of those to start with.
Many thanks to everyone who has sent donations of cards for our card swap. This will be advertised nationally and locally so please take the time to look through your odds and see if you have any to add to our stocks. The cards we are swapping this year will be from the various formats of Topps Match Attax, Panini Adrenalyn XL, all styles of Pokémon cards, plus Sainsburys Lego, and Sainsburys Pixar Heroes, both the blue back “free” cards and the yellow back “commercial issue” cards. Or similar, all swell the table and boost the interest. You can always bring them with you to save posting them. If any members or dealers wish to donate larger quantities of these cards we will be delighted. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like more information on donating.
Don’t forget if you want reference books from us, or dealer catalogues you can get in touch direct and arrange to collect at the fair. This is an excellent way to save post on those – which you can spend in the hall on more cards!
The Leisure centre is just off the main ring road around Salisbury, and about twenty minutes walk from the city centre and railway station which is linked by direct train from London Waterloo, Bristol and the West Country, and the South Coast. There will be free parking for approximately 300 cars.
INSIDE THE VENUE :
All the dealers will be housed in a single large well lit hall, it’s situated right by the reception and cafe, and all on one level. It covers over 1,000 square metres. The Society AGM will take place in a room close by.
Dealer access details will be provided on booking but the leisure centre has good unloading facilities with easy access for all those laden trolleys. There will be free parking for approximately 300 cars.
The websites of the co-hosting branches this year are:
A dilemma. Imagine you are, or know a card collector who lives outside the UK, who would be really interested to join us, were it not for the high cost of the overseas subscription? If only there was a way to reduce this cost. And now there is!
We cant let this day go by without some cartophilic commemoration. After all it is the date that our feathered friends traditionally choose their mates. So why not! The vintage image we choose as our featured card is a reminder of how times change, a
Well I hope 2019 was a success in finding those elusive lots to slim down your wants list, and that 2020 will be just as good. I am looking forward to the convention at Salisbury. While it is not so far for me to travel, I confess I do enjoy going
Greetings to all our Antipodean friends. We hope that you enjoy your day. Did you know you could visit Australia from here! In virtual form of course, because we have a thriving Australian cartophilic Society linked to us in many ways and it's ea
