2019 Convention – Nottingham 26th/27th April7th Jan 2019 by Sam Whiting
Table booking forms have been pouring in at the time of writing this post-Christmas update. Forty-four tables have already been booked with wall tables doing particularly well, so don’t leave it too late to complete your table booking form. Additional forms can be obtained from me (contact details are on the inside page of the magazine). The Convention would be an ideal way for members to dispose of unwanted cards and this year we will have a dedicated swap room for Match Attax and the like.
Please note however that the VENUE HAS MOVED. Nottingham Conferences were concerned that there were insufficient parking facilities at the previous venue and we have just been advised that we are to be relocated to the De Vere Jubilee Conference Centre, 16 Orston Drive, NG8 1DH, which is about a mile away from Studio 7. This was the venue used for the recent Nottingham Postcard Fair in September and is set within 65 acres of scenic lakeside grounds of Nottingham University and should not be confuses with the De Vere Orchard Hotel which is also in Nottingham.
The Hotel/Conference Centre is 10 minutes from Junction 25 off the MI motorway and just two miles from the city centre, 20 minutes from East Midlands Airport, with direct trains into central London. There is also free, superfast Wi-Fi is available throughout the venue.
One additional point to everyone is that the times mentioned in the previous magazine have been amended to give vendors sufficient time to set up their tables. Please note that entry for members on Friday, 26th April is now 11am and members of the public will be 1pm with the AGM being held on the Saturday 27thn April (opening times 10am to 4pm).
I look forward to seeing everyone at Nottingham and commend the Nottingham Branch for sponsoring this event.

In this Auction, 'the collection' again features items at Lots 6 - 71, including 4 with high catalogue values. One set, scarce as set, is catalogued at £1900, but is not that popular. What reserve can I give, when the cards are in VG condition.
As some of you might know, I have been absent from the UK branch circuit for the last 24 years whilst working as a contract finance manager for a construction company in the middle and far east until 2017 when I finally retired. Although I was unabl
